Weigh In Wednesday {1/21}




Morning all! I was up bright and early this morning for work. I am finding it very hard to get workouts in on work days. I work from 6a-6p then I get home, we have dinner, and relax. I should get on the treadmill for 30-45 minutes after dinner, but it is hard when I haven't seen Mason or Tim all day. I need to work on balancing a little better. There are nights that Tim has fire department stuff to do so maybe on those nights I could get a workout in while Mason plays. He has a meeting tonight at 7 so I will try to get my butt in gear and get on the treadmill. I will let you know how that turns out.

I weighed in for my Dietbet on Monday at the same weight I was last week. I really want to get these extra pounds that have crept on off! I really want my jeans to fit better than they do right now. I am determined not to buy jeans in a size 12. I was in a size 10 comfortably and I will be there again soon!

Beginning of the DietBet & Weekend Recap

Well this is new... Tim and I both have a holiday off. Now that he works for the county (like I do) he gets every holiday you could imagine off. I just happen to have it off with my new schedule.

We had a productive weekend. Mason went to my mom's Friday to spend the night. Tim and I went to the Rusty Nail in Clifton Park for drinks with some of his former coworkers. It was a fun time.
On our way home we stopped at Target (he suggested it so who am I to say no ;) ) to grab some items we needed. We were in bed by 11 and slept until almost 9! It was amazing!

Saturday started with a trip to a neighboring rescue squad to pick up some fitness equipment. We ended up getting a great deal on an elliptical and a treadmill for our new fitness room. This is my favorite room in our new section. I am working on pricing out some foam squares for the floor.
Does anyone know the best place to get those from? 
The rest of Saturday was spent doing a lot of nothing.

Sunday was a lounge day. We were going to go work on a list of stuff that needs to be done in the new part of the squad, but the weather was no good. Tim went outside to move the cars around and said the driveway was like a skating rink. Mason and I decided to stay home and watch movies. He did not have a nap so he was pretty tired when 8:30 rolled around.
This has been mostly a lounge weekend. Some times you just need a couple days of lounging.

We have a few things on the agenda today, but nothing too stressful. It is just nice to have time off together.

Today starts the Dietbet I am hosting! There is still time to get involved. There aren't many people in it right now so the odds of winning the $50 gift card to Old Navy is really good! I am giving the gift card away to one of the participants in the Dietbet.
Here is my weigh in. I have a little over 7 lbs to lose this month

5 on Friday


{One}
Mason loves building forts now. The fort in the picture is one of my creations. Both the little kid and the big kid are in there (notice the feet sticking out?). We had to make a few forts the other night because he kept wanting new layouts.

{Two}
The down side to him loving forts? He cannot really say "fort" it comes out as more of a swear word... a 4 letter "f" word to be exact. Tim and I were hysterically laughing the other night as he was trying to say "Ahhh Fort" hahaha  Oh dear.

I can only imagine the calls we will get from school in the future with some of the stuff we laugh at and let go.

{Three}
Tim and I have a kid free night tonight. We are going to meet a few of his old co-workers for drinks and probably some dinner. We are going to a place we have never tried so hopefully it is delicious :) Of course we cannot go out to dinner without a few errand stops along the way. We need diapers and dog food at BJs so I am hoping we will be on our way home before they close.

We always have a list of these we need for the times we actually get out of the house without child ;)

{Four}
I got a nice surprise in the mail yesterday! I had a reminder that I had a $40 reward certificate from Old Navy that expires at the end of the month. I did not even know about it! Very exciting :) I am sure I could find something. ;)

Weigh In Wednesday & Announcement




Good morning everyone! I had squad duty last night and we were paged out for an emergency at 11:30 (shift ends at 12) I got home around 2 this morning and Mason was up at 8:15. I think I will definitely be napping when he naps today.

I stepped on the scale this morning with my warm pajamas on and half asleep. I ended up seeing the same number I saw last week, maybe we can say I lost a few ounces because I had clothes on this time? lol I seem to be good at maintaining :/  I need to bump up my workouts and start counting calories again. I know it works, but it is so hard to get back into that habit again.


I have been doing alright with my resolutions, but not as well I would like as you can see from above, so I decided to.... Host a Dietbet! Dietbets seem to help me get in gear. The cost is $25 and you are betting against yourself.


Not only could you win the money in the pot if you lose the weight, but I am going to give away a $50 gift card to Old Navy to one of the participants! Think of all the workout clothes you could buy with that :)

Some Fun w. Madlibs #NoExcuses

Good Morning Folks! Lots to do today on my first day off in a few days. Laundry is definitely high on the list because I need more socks! Where do they go? I am also going to run errands with Michelle and Mason around 9. Phew that is early for a day off, but she has an appointment at 1:30 so morning it is for errands.

I plan on getting my workout in after I get home and Mason is down for his afternoon nap. Fingers crossed he actually wants to take a nap today.

I decided to do a little fun activity today that I was sent from Sweat Pink #NoExcuses challenge! I had to fill in the blanks like a madlib.

·  Hey 2015, it’s me Ash Z

·  This year I would like to have another baby, move to a new house, and Get back in shape!

·  It would also be super duper awesome if I also start running again this year. It’s not a resolution, though, just a reminder to myself to try and have the best year yet because I am worth it!

·  The thing I am looking forward to most this year is selling my house & running again.

·  I’ll use the one thing that truly gets me out of bed in the morning which is my alarm to help me get up, get moving and get after my #NoExcuses 2015.

·  Speaking of excuses (ahem), my very favorite excuse is Mason and his sleeping habits and I have used it to get out of doing a workout and shaving on more than 1,000 occasions.

·  I vow to move my body and be more healthy this year even if it means I have to sacrifice some sleep.

·  Even if my alarm clock gets eaten by the dog in the middle of the night, I'll still have my husband wake me up.

·  I will stop blaming the Mason for eating the rest of the cookies when everyone knows it was really me.

·  My husband and toddler are not the reason I make excuses. I will show them who's boss this year and get my P90X3 on!

·  I know that yoga is better than lounging.

·  I will reward myself by feeling good!

·  No Excuses 2015 has just begun and already I am imagining myself a winner. I can’t wait to rock a hoodie from Augusta Active. I can’t wait till my sweaty friends are jealous of how fresh, clean and vibrant I am between workouts with help from ShowerPill body wipes. I can see myself rocking crow in new tie one on leggings from Actio926 and looking fit and fly while doing it. And of course, I’ll be taking my workouts to the next level and improving my stamina with my new ActivMotion Bar to help me train for my next 5k race with Sasquatch Racing.

·  Oh, and let’s not forget how amazing my workout gear will smell in my / during my P90X3 workout after washing with some WIN Detergent. And lastly, I’ll keep rocking my 2015 with clean eats and nutrition from Beaming with Health!

Monday, Monday, Monday

It is Monday again...
I am on the last day of working my three day weekend. I have tomorrow and Wednesday off. I am really liking this schedule, but it has been hard to get workouts in. I will get used to it and figure a way to do it.
I did manage a treadmill session while watching the make over episode of the Biggest Loser. Nothing like watching people get made over to motivate a girl. I even got to listen to a singing performance by Mason while I was watching the show. He found a microphone the other day and was all about performing.

Mason was attached to the cat the other day and it was kind of cute. He kept following her around and she would do the same to him. She jumped up in the chair with him and then she even let him watch her eat treats.
He is always asking where "skibbles" is (her name is Scribbles). He will walk around looking for her in the morning to give her a hug and say goodbye before we leave for daycare. When he tries to pick her us he says "heaby." Yea she only weighs about 8 lbs less than him.  We are pretty lucky that our animals are so good with Mason. He has been scratched by the cat, but those incidents were when she was being playful.

Yea I am one of those parents.... This looks unsafe, but I had to get the photo first to show Tim what he was doing before I got him down. He is getting to be a little dare devil.

I plan on getting on the treadmill tonight when I get home to get in my workout. I am actually looking forward to it :)

Where Have I Been? Reading

I have been a little MIA since my weigh in post. Trying to sort stuff out in my head and reading like a crazy lady. I took a couple books out of the library last week and when I started What Alice Forgot I was hooked. I wanted to read the whole thing in one sitting, but I knew I couldn't, I had responsibilities. I ended up reading this book in 5 days. I don't usually review books on here, but I liked this book so much I wanted to tell all of you :) 


What Alice Forgot

Good Reads Synopsis:

Alice Love is twenty-nine, crazy about her husband, and pregnant with her first child.

So imagine Alice’s surprise when she comes to on the floor of a gym and is whisked off to the hospital where she discovers the honeymoon is truly over — she’s getting divorced, she has three kids and she’s actually 39 years old. Alice must reconstruct the events of a lost decade, and find out whether it’s possible to reconstruct her life at the same time. She has to figure out why her sister hardly talks to her, and how is it that she’s become one of those super skinny moms with really expensive clothes. 

Ultimately, Alice must discover whether forgetting is a blessing or a curse, and whether it’s possible to start over.


My Review:

I loved this book from the first chapter. It had me hooked and I wanted more. There were times I was torn between which way the story should end. This book is well written and makes you think. "Young Alice" was a breath of fresh and made you hope she would still be in "Older Alice's" mind when her memory did return. Some of the conversations and events made you feel bad she had lost her memory and was so clueless. It also made you want to know more about what she was forgetting.

After praising the book on Instagram when I was halfway through I was so nervous that the ending would be crappy, but it wasn't - it was almost perfect.

This book had me thinking what I would think if this happened to me. What if I woke up tomorrow and did not remember the last ten years? I would think I was still in high school.  I would also wonder why I am in bed next to a guy that I do not know! We will not have met for another 4 months. I would not even know who Mason was. That would be scary I would think. A lot has happened in the last ten years.

I would definitely recommend this book. I have read The Husband's Secret by Moriarty and likes it. I have her newest book Big Little Lies on my "want to read list at the library. I heard it is even better than this one.

What would freak you out if you lost the last 10 years of your life?

Weigh In Wednesday {1/8}




This is tough! Getting back into the weight loss mindset and getting out of the free for all mindset. I guess the hardest part has been eating. We have had leftovers in our fridge from New Year's Eve, but they are pretty much gone now. There were lots of veggies and salad stuff so we were having the pastas with lots of veggies and greens. 

This new schedule of mine will take some time to get used to. I am sure I could work on getting workouts in at night. We are working on getting Mason to bed at a decent time and Tim has started reading. So I could always workout before I go to bed. I will get the hang of it, it will just take some getting used to. 

With all the hurdles and obstacle you only have one option...

We seem to watch a lot of Disney movies now. Nemo has been on TV quite a few times lately and Mason keeps asking to watch Monsters, Inc and Frozen. Hopefully our DVDs will wear out at some point! I like Frozen and all, but geesh once you watch it 25 times it loses its appeal. 

Mandie commented on my post on Monday that it is nice to get back to reality. I have to agree with her. It is nice to get back to a routine instead of chaos. It is nice to get back into the normal flow of things and not be running from place to place for the holidays.

Here is where I am at this morning...
This is me being completely honest. I could have skipped posting this photo, but I knew I need accountability. I honestly think that last week's number was not right and I thought it was low when I saw it then. There is no way I could have gained 4 pounds in 1 week with the stuff I have been doing. I have not been on my game totally, but not that much. I am not happy to see 180 and I am not happy to think that I was 167 in April :( I am determined and ready to push forward!

Back to Reality

I feel like a kid going back to school. I am back to work today after a couple works of only working a handful of times. It has been a nice break, but it is time to go back to work.

Speaking of work we started a new schedule at the beginning of the year. A co-worker and I went to our boss in December 2013 with an out of the box idea to cover more hours of the day with more people - 12 hour shifts. We worked on it for over a year and finally it was approved. A few people cringe when I say we went to 12 hour shifts. I am looking forward to them. We will have more time off and we will get every other weekend off. With the 8 hour schedule we had weekends off every 6 months! I am on the 6a-6p shift with some swaps to the 12p-12a.

I am trying to figure out a way to get my workouts in with this schedule. It was not happening this morning after the rough night we had Saturday night with Mason not wanting to sleep. I will try to get one in after dinner tonight. I don't work until noon tomorrow and Wednesday so those days won't be a problem.

We had a fun weekend. We put together one of Mason's Christmas presents and he loved it. It was a little bigger than we had thought it was going to be, but we have a big family room in the basement.
The photo on the left was funny, I told him to look out the door 
and say "cheese" and he actually did it! 

We also potty trained for three days. Friday was rough, but we kept at it. He did not go in the potty once, but we kept trying. Saturday was hit and miss with the undies because we had some things to do while Tim's mom watched Mason.

Sunday we were diligent about it. He was in undies all day and by mid afternoon he was running to the potty himself. He did not make it every time, but it was a start. Then He ran off at one point and we found him on the potty going all by himself. We made some real progress by Sunday night. I am just hoping it continues. We just have to be consistent. I did text his daycare teacher to give him an update so he would know to put him in undies today.

It takes focus, patience, and low expectations to make it through that kind of weekend. We knew he would get it, but it took a while.

5 on Friday

{One}
Happy New Year! How are your resolutions going so far? I have caught myself biting my nails a couple times, but it is hard because it is a habit that I do not even notice at times.

{Two}
A certain little guy never wants to admit he wants to take a nap. I had to go to work when Tim was getting out of work the other day so I met Tim in the parking lot to switch vehicles. Mason had been almost dozing on the way and I kept asking him if he wanted a nap and he would tell me "no."
When we got in the parking lot he could not fight it anymore, he was out.

{Three}
Mason's new favorite toy? His dishes and their rack. He loves this set he got for Christmas. Every bath he takes he has to have his dishes to wash as well. He passes them out to us as well. When he wants to have a drink and food. He also says "cheers" after touching our cups together.
This gift makes me realize how much he is developing and growing. He pretends a lot and loves playing with us and by himself.


{Four}
Today starts a three day adventure for Tim and I - We are going to start potty training. We have been seriously slacking. Mason is doing well at daycare, but we have been lazy at home. We are going to go at it full force until we see some progress. We had this three day block so we decided to take advantage of it. Hopefully it works or we at least make progress.
I am hoping this is me - I did enjoy being pregnant, maybe I will enjoy this.

Any tips from some seasoned moms out there? 


{Five}
Ok It is January 2015 now... when will the FitBit Charge HR be released!? I have been waiting not so patiently. All the website says is coming early 2015... Hopefully early means this month? I have some Christmas money set aside for it so it would not ruin my no spend January.



What is your favorite fitness tracker? I had the FitBit One - well I still have it and I like it, I just want something newer and one that has the heart rate.
