Baby Food - Carrots

When I made a pot roast the other night I decided to use the rest of the carrots in the bag to make Mason some food. I ended up making 40 - 1 ounce cubes. I spent $3.00 on a five pound bag of carrots. I made a pot roast in the crock pot and $10.00 worth of baby food. I consider that a good deal.
Peel
Chop
Steam
Move from steamer into food processor
Puree
Pour & Freeze
This may not look delicious, but they taste much better than the jars of food. I was checking the pears I made Mason for lunch to see if they were too hot and they did not taste bad at all. I knew what was in them and they actually tasted like pears.
Carrots are recommended for children over 6 months
When I was pregnant and decided to try making my own baby food I thought it would be a big task. It is not that hard. I have not made anything more than veggie & fruit purees, but I am willing to try other things. I want to mix different fruits together to make new flavors for Mason.

I hope these posts inspire someone to make their own baby food. I am not going to push it on everyone because I use the store bought stuff as well as the home made stuff. Sometimes it is easier and I may not have the certain kind in the freezer.

    1. Our pediatrician suggested starting with fruits & veggies - we mix rice cereal in as well.

    1. It is cheaper! I am so happy that I decided to do it. I am also not gagged when I taste it to test temperature.

I once led a workshop on making your own baby food and the benefits are insane, healthier AND way, way cheaper!

P.S. Saw you were from Upstate New York. I'm originally from the Syracuse area- where are you?
