Where have I been?

So sorry to have been slacking. I know I get antsy when blogs I follow don't get update for a while. I want to take a moment to apologize. It has been a hectic week to say the least.

Lets start with Friday. Friday morning at 1:30 I got a call from my dad's girlfriend telling me that he had passed away in his sleep. Wow that was a lot to take in. I have had a rough relationship with my dad in the last few years because his alcoholism got worse and I could not handle it. I knew he had been in the hospital for the last month, I had been keeping tabs on him without him really knowing. I know that he would not have said anything to me, really no one even called me to tell me he was in the hospital until 2 weeks after the fact, but that is besides the point. (I already knew he was there). I still loved him and he was a great dad until the disease took over. Alcoholism is an awful disease and no one should have to live with it. He had cirrosis of the liver and renal failure. He went peacefully in his sleep and he is now in a better place.

Daddy's Girl
We made it through Christmas, which I will do another blog post on later. I have lots of pictures to share. My mom called yesterday and told me that my grandfather had passed away yesterday morning. This is my mom's dad that I have mentioned before. He was in the hospital and had been since September. He went in for heart surgery and had been there since - in a bed unable to talk because of the trache they put in to help him breathe. He is with my grandmother now not laid up in a bed and he can talk again. He was not the type to lay around all the time. I am glad that I had my photographer at the wedding take a picture of me with him and a family photo with his children.

So needless to say my week has not been the greatest, but I am making it through. My husband is wonderful and has been great when I start to lose it. I will try to make another blog post about Christmas soon.

I hope everyone had a great holiday.

Cookie Monday

Happy Monday! I must have been tired because I slept 12 hours last night. WOW! I could not believe I slept that long. I had planned on being up earlier, but oh well. My body must have needed to rest. I went to weigh-in this morning and gained .8 lbs. I was AWFUL last week. I did not track and I made all the wrong choices when I ate. I just had a bad week. I am hopeful for this week and I plan on doing the best I can to track everything and be diligent.

Today I did my Christmas baking. It is 5 o'clock now and I have lost my ambition. The sugar cookies will have to wait until tomorrow I guess.

My goals for this week are:
  • Track everything I eat
  • Eat more fruits and veggies
  • Get on the treadmill and walk at least 10 miles
  • No fast food
  • Feel Good

It will be another hectic week with Christmas on Sunday. I will try to do another blog entry in the next week, but phew I feel like I have been going going going.

Christmas Card

I sent my Christmas cards out on Saturday. Here is what they look like this year :)

Crazy to think I was 33 pounds heavier then... eek!

What do you think?

Monday Check In

I have really been slacking! I have to keep up with this blog. Can you believe Christmas is less than 2 weeks away? I think that is crazy. It still does not feel very Christmasy (sp?) to me, we need more snow here in Upstate NY. I heard on the news this morning that Arizona has had more snow this year than Buffalo, NY. That is insane!

So what have I done since last Thursday? hmmm Well Friday I did some baking. I made eggnog cookies and Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cupcakes.
The Eggnog cookies were yummy, the guys at work were enjoying every last crumb.
The cupcakes were good as well. I was good and only had one small cookie. I had to rely on others to tell me how the cupcakes were. Here is the recipe for Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cupcakes.

Saturday morning was spent getting our Christmas tree. We were going to chop down our own, but the place we went did not take good care of their fields and a lot of the trees were over grown. We did not find anything that we liked. We then went to a local farm store where the Boy Scouts were selling trees. T's brother and his girlfriend found a tree there, but we didn't. We went to then went to the place we went to last year and found a great tree. The perk to going to the place we went was the freshly made Cinnamon Sugar Cider Donuts we got when we left. :) They are yummy. After a morning of driving all around we came home with a tree and some cider donuts.

After all that we decided to spend the afternoon on the couch watching a Christmas movie. It was a lazy afternoon, then I went to work until midnight.

Sunday morning we put the tree up finally!

Scribbles started playing in the netting that was on the tree and got pretty tangled

While we were putting the lights on she decided to climb the tree

Our ornament from Hallmark this year :)

T makes fun of these, but they were my Grandmother's and I love this gum drop like garland :)
Our Tree :)  Yes there is a monkey on the top because year after year I try to find a good topper and I cannot find one I like
Why is Nutmeg staring at the tree?

because there is a kitty in it...
After our tree was up we went to T's parents' and helped put their tree up. It was a nice day especially in the afternoon when we took a nice long nap. Lately I have been ready for a nap every afternoon. I do not get it.

Today I will be taking  nap too because I have to work at midnight. I went to weigh-in today and I saw a loss of 1.4 lbs. That is great! Better than just .2 lbs. I will be happier next week when I try for -2 lbs.

Phew... Next time I will have to do multiple posts over a few days instead of trying to jam it all into one post :)

Finally, it looks like Christmas

There are only 17 days left until Christmas and it has finally snowed here in Upstate NY. I wanted a little snow so my Christmas lights look like they actually belong on now. The snow also hides the wires from the lights.

Not too much snow, just enough for a coating. Also enough to make me happy that I put my car in the garage last night so I do not have to worry about cleaning it off.

Remember Scribbles?
Yea that is her, I was changing purses and she decided to climb into the empty one. Well, yesterday she was spayed. Poor kitty. She was lethargic last night and she did not even purr. She is always purring. :( I went to check on her this morning and she was not happy she is stuck in the laundry room. I gave her some of the pain medication the vet gave and then I opened the door. I let her have the whole downstairs instead of just one room. I felt bad :( I just cannot let her and Nutmeg play for a while. She was purring this morning when I went down so she is almost back to normal.

Today is going to be a relaxing day. I do plan on walking a few miles before I get ready for work at 4. I may even may some cupcakes, but that would mean I have to go get eggs... ugh.

It has been a while...

I kind of feel like a slacker, I have not posted in a few days. I have been sick for over a week and did not feel motivated to post about the sickness. I am starting to feel better today. I still have the cough, but I can feel the crap in my chest loosening.

I went to WI today just hoping that I have not gained. I have been sick so I did not want to set the bar too high and be disappointed. I ended up losing .2 lb. It was not a gain so I was happy. I am not attending a meeting this week so the receptionist that weighed me went over the Points Plus 2012 plan. I even got a bag of goodies.

Lots of reading material. It is definitely geared more for individuality and how you can use the plan so it works for you. I am going to continue using it the way I have been and maybe incorporate some of the new stuff. This seems to be working for me. It is very informational and gives a few options on how to mold to plan for you. It does suggest keeping track of Activity Points, which I have not been doing because I don't use them. I will start tracking them, but I am not going to use them.

Speaking of Activity - I have missed my treadmill the last week. I tried last Tuesday to get on and I walked for 2 miles but it kicked my butt. I am feeling better today so I got on it again. I was motivated and I did not want to fall behind on my walking challenge. I ended up walking 4.5 miles at 3.3 mph with a 6.5% incline. I was on the treadmill for 85 minutes. Phew! It was pretty easy because I had a Hallmark Christmas Movie on the DVR. I walked while watching that. It felt GREAT to get back to walking.

I have to finish making dinner now. We are having Grilled Chicken & Salad - Yummy :)
I also had a craving for a Sausage, Cream Cheese, & Rotel Dip. I ended up making it early. Hope T is hungry.

Has anyone else gotten the new material for Weight Watchers?
What do you think?

Happy December!

I cannot believe that it is December already. It really does not feel like December here in Upstate NY. It was a little chilly this morning, I did start my car from inside the house this morning so it would be warm when it was time to come to work. I would really like some *snow* so my Christmas lights look nicer, it is hard to hit the cords and such with no snow. I also think that it is prettier when there is snow around the lights.

I am still sick. I went to the doctors yesterday and there is nothing majorly wrong. Strep Test was negative, my ears were clear, and my lungs sound good. The Doctor said that it will work its way out of my system. I wish it would leave now, I was up all night again last night coughing. It is like a tickle in my throat when I breathe so I cannot help but cough. My voice is getting a little better, yesterday I was whispering, but today I actually have a voice.

I have been really bad at tracking. I have been tracking my food during the day and then not at night. I have not been eating much either. I have had soup and some left over Thanksgiving stuff the last few days. My mom made homemade turkley noodle so I have been eating it to help with my throat. It is delicious.

I am also very anxious to get back on my treadmill! I got on it on Tuesday and did 2 miles at 3.0 mph. It was very difficult with the coughing. I really want to get back into walking! I have to get to 150 miles... The good thing out of this is I realized that I do enjoy getting my exercise in. I want to get on that treadmill and walk and far as I can. I am starting to feel lazy.

I am hoping to start feeling better soon! *Fingers Crossed* I really just want to sleep through the night.
