I Love This Time of Year

I love the month of December! Not really for the weather aspect. I am not a big fan of being cold, but I love Christmas. I love the feeling of Christmas and the anticipation. I cannot really explain it but it is just a great time of year.
Saturday when I got home from work at 1, I decided that the medication was working pretty well and I felt well enough to start decorating. I had already put the fall decorations away, so it was just a matter of taking the Christmas stuff out.
Notice the Prowler in the picture

The toughest part was trying to find places to put all the stuff. I even vacuumed and dusted the house before putting things in their place. I even made the mistake of changing the sheets on the bed... I should have waited until I was not sick. I will change them again when I feel better I guess.
Yes I was watching the Hallmark Channel while decorating

This is one of my favorite pieces. It used to be at my mom's house, but she gave it to me

This piece was left by the previous owner of the house and I LOVE IT! The tree has lights in it.

After I was done decorating I was beat. I curled up on the couch and watched Christmas movies until T got home. I felt awful and had flu like symptoms.

This morning I was up at 5:30 and if I had felt better I would have gotten on that treadmill, but I was awake because of the coughing and pain in my chest. I am going to attempt the treadmill after work. I told myself even if I do not go as fast as I normally do it will be better than nothing.

The Mucinex DM is helping me get through today again, my voice is almost gone though.

Feeling Icky

I have not had a blog post in days, sorry :/ I have been feeling icky. I woke up in the middle of the night Thursday and had a sore throat. Unfortunately it was still there in the morning.
I have him living in my chest along with his family-->

I have not exercised since Thursday morning. I feel so lazy, but I have no energy because my head is stuffed. I am making it a goal to get on the treadmill tomorrow. My throat and ears hurt today. It has been 3 days and I am hoping that this cold is working its' way out of me. I do have to say that I tried Mucinex DM and I would definitely spend the money again. I feel great for about 11 hours and then I start to notice it wearing off... But it is definitely a life saver when I have things to do during the day.

Today is Monday so that means I had weigh-in today. I went into it hoping I had not gained. I figured I would not do well because I went to two Thanksgivings and I have not exercised in 3 days. I stepped on the scale and I was pleasantly surprised. I was down 2.0 lbs. WOW I am in the 180s! I am at 188.6, I have not been there in who knows when. I cannot remember the last time I was at this weight.

That makes 32 lbs in 4 months. Not bad. I am hoping to enter 2012 in the 170s.

Thanksgiving Recap...

Happy Saturday!!!

I am at work this morning for 6 hours of overtime, it is the Holiday season and extra money does not hurt.

Thanksgiving Day was great. I woke up and was ready for the day. T went hunting so I stayed home and participated in the Virtual 5k for A Journey to Thin's Thankful Healthy Blogger 5k.

For the Virtual 5k I had to take a picture :) Of course Scribbles had to be in every photo...
My usual speed on the treadmill is 3.6 mph, but I decided to push my self for the 5k. I set the speed at 3.7, then after the first half mile I decided I would try to go up to 3.8 mph. I was feeling great. The last 6/10 mile of the 5k I was at 3.9. I felt so great after I was done. I took a minute to take a picture of the screen :

Then I got back on, set the speed to 3.2 mph and walked another 8/10 of a mile to make it an even 4 miles walked for the day. I also wanted to finish watching The Biggest Loser: Thanksgiving Special. It was great to see all the past contestants and how well they are doing. It was motivating.
I cannot believe I just posted that picture, but check out my collar bones!

I went to see my mom and her boyfriend in the early afternoon. They were making a turkey dinner for themselves to enjoy. I stayed there for a few hours chatting with them while they made dinner. I did not stay because I could not have two turkey dinners in one day. That would not have been good.

I went to T's Aunt's house to meet T. I was there early and enjoyed a nice chat with T's Aunt. I had a moment of weakness with the mini peanut butter cups that she had in a bowl, I did not eat that many but I should not have had as many as I did.
Remember my pumpkin roll?  It turned out pretty good :)

I did not taste it yet, but I heard it was good :)
It was nice to spend time with everyone. The food was delicious too :) I had a small slice of Pumpkin Pie and tasted some of the others, but not enough to really say I ate a slice. I did count those though when I recorded what I ate. Here are some pictures from that day... T's aunt took some but I am waiting for her to email them to me.
Look at how thin my face looks :)

Chatting after dinner

Looking at Black Friday Ads and trying to rest after dinner
Friday I woke up with a sore throat and just did not feel well. I got up and tried to muster some ambition, but it was not happening. I did take care of the fall decorations and managed a shower, but I felt like I did not sleep at all the night before but I did. I was exhausted. I did go to my in-laws and went shopping with Judy. We went in the afternoon so it was not that crowded or annoying. I did manage to get some good deals on some newer DVDs from Target. I also bought our yearly ornament at Hallmark. He is cute :)
When we got back to the house, I was exhausted. I curled up on their couch with a blanket and was out! I was fine while I slept but when I woke up my throat was worse and my ears hurt. I told T I was dying ; ). He did not think I was dying, just that I was sick. I felt like it though.

I am hoping to feel a little better when I go home at noon. I want to start getting Christmas decorations out. I love this time of year :) I love the feeling and the atmosphere everywhere.

To end this post I want to congratulate Carbie Girl for her AWESOME weight loss in the last month! I cannot weight to be in the 180s. I would have posted it on her page, but she does not have a space to comment anymore :( Oh well I like this shout out on a post :)  Keep up the good work! Sorry to hear about the blisters, but that is great you finished a 10k!

I cannot believe that it is already Thanksgiving. It just does not feel like that time of year yet. Well this morning it kind of did with the 4+ inches of snow on my car and in my driveway. I got up at 6 and walked 2 miles this morning. I was tired and I did not have a good show on the DVR, so that made for a tough 2 miles. I just was not into it this morning. I did feel good after I was done. I wish I went further, but I did get a little workout when I cleaned the snow off my car.

Tomorrow morning T will be getting up to go hunting at his parents' house and I will be staying home for the morning. I have to make the mashed potatoes for the family dinner in the afternoon. I am making some garlic mashed and regular mashed. My mouth is watering now :)

I am also participating in A Journey to Thin's - Thankful Healthy Blogger 5k. I do not have an organized event to go to so I am going to do it on my treadmill. I am motivated to do this. What a great idea she had! If you want to participate too, go to her site or click on the button below and sign up! There are prizes too!

I will be attempting to make a Pumkin Roll tonight after work for the Thanksgiving dinner. We will see how it turns out. It is my first time makng one. Eek! Wish me luck ;)

Relaxing Tuesday Night

Today I wore my new jeans. You know the size 12 ones. :) I felt so good today at work, it really was a sign that I really am losing weight and it is showing. I updated my progress pictures today. Tim was nice enough to take the pictures. Sorry for the wrong color top, but I was doing laundry. Nutmeg had to get in the pictures as well. She loves getting her picture taken. :)
Notice the exercise ball... It is getting used lol

Not the greatest picture, but 6 months ago I would never had posted this. What progress :)
T and I just had a nice dinner - Chicken & Brocolli Alfredo with some toasted garlic rolls. It was delicious. Then T suggested we go in the hot tub. That was a gerat idea. My back was hurting a little and that made it feel great. We really need to start using that more. We forget it is on the back porch most of the time.
Now we are on the couch downstairs watching last week's NCIS so we can actually watch this weeks at 8.

Yup that is right Scribbles is bothering the pup

Finally some rest
My plan is to get up early in the morning to walk before I go to work. I have to work until 6 tomorrow so I want to get my walk in before and not have to do it after. Tomorrow night may be hectic. I am going to make some things for Thanksgiving early so I do not have have to worry about it Thursday.

Pantry Challenge

I was reading Lisa Eirene's blog the other day and I stumbled upon a post about a pantry challenge. Her pantry seemed just as packed as mine is. I have been noticing lately that the pantry and the freezer are full.

We don't have kids, but we still have oodles of cereal!

It is to the top right now because I bought some Chicken and Beef in bulk the other day
I keep telling myself that I need to just eat what is in the freezer and pantry for a while until I start to run out of things. It will definitely save us money. After seeing her challenge I decided to finally get my butt in gear and actually do it.

I told T about the challenge and he is all for it. We will be eating what is in our freezer and in the pantry. The only things we can buy are things that spoil - i.e. Veggies, Milk, Juice, etc. The only time I can see me buying anything else is it I need something for my Christmas Cookies.

Wish us luck!

Anyone else have a full pantry or freezer? What do you do to dwindle it down?

OMG 30 Pounds!

The last few weeks were a little rough for me. For some reason I could not get myself to track my food. I knew it would catch of to me and it did, last week I gained .2 lb instead of losing weight. Well after my weigh in I got mad at myself for not trying my best. I decided to get back on track and actually track everything I put into my mouth. I did very well this week and I wrote everything down and did not use more than ten of my weekly points. I also walked 15.1 miles this week. I feel great.

I had to work until 8 this morning so I slept from 8:30-11:30. I woke up feeling pretty confident with my weigh in. I walked into weigh-in with a confidence I had not had in a long time. I stepped on the scale and just about died. I could not believe the number. It read 190.6! 190.6! WoW! That is a 4.4 loss from last week. That puts me at my goal to lose 30 lbs by Thanksgiving. I even did it early, too!

I mentioned in my last blog that I could not wear my new clothes until I got to 190. Well I did not expect it to be so soon! I am excited to wear those jeans. I even treated myself to lunch at Panera. I love their Chicken Caesars and Chicken Noodle Soup. Yummy! It does not even use too many points. I love this website that gives you the points plus values for several restaurants.

I will post that challenge I mentioned before tomorrow morning.

The Little Things

I forgot to add something in the last blog...
Look what came in the mail Saturday!

That is right... A package from American Eagle :) I love opening packages.
Inside the package:
- 2 Pair of size 12 jeans
- 1 Shirt - Size L
- 1 Pair of Legging (I think I accidentally donated mine to good will when I was rearranging clothes :/)
- 7 pairs of undies :)

I want to hold off from wearing these things until I hit the 190 mark. It will give me some incentive! But this morning while T was still sound asleep and after I had taken my shower I tried on a pair of the jeans and I almost cried. They fit and they fit very well. I did not find them too tight. I could not believe it! I have gone down 2 sizes in jeans! With the shirts from American Eagle I went from an XXL to a L, that is pretty amazing too!

My First Craft Fair

Let's do a little recap of my Saturday & Sunday. I was going to do a blog post when I got home from the craft fair Saturday but I started doing other things. Oops :/

So I mentioned Friday night that I had to work until 4 on Saturday morning. I was wide awake the whole night and then I got home and was still wide awake - not good for someone who had to get up at 8 a.m. I ended up changing the laundry, cleaning the cat litter box, picking up the living room, and then I finally told myself that I had to lay down and try to sleep for a few hours. I did not sleep very well because I worry that I will not hear my alarm or that I will oversleep. I got up after hitting the snooze button a few times and after I took a shower and got ready for the day I felt much better.

My mother-in-law, Judy, and I were off to the HVCC Craft Fair. She has been before but this was my first time. The weather was beautiful on Saturday and the sun was shining. It took us about 45 minutes to get to HVCC (Hudson Valley Community College). I really enjoyed the fair, I like going and looking at what different vendors have to offer and what their talents are. There were many places to sample food, but I was good. I had a small sample of Chicken Stew which was not bad, needed a little more flavoring.

I am starting to really like snowmen. I wish some of the prices weren't as crazy as they were, I would have liked to bring some home to decorate this winter. I did buy a small item for a Christmas gift.

I liked the rustic/country look of these

There were so many things to see. It was amazing how large this fair was. I would definitely go back next year. On our way out we had to get something for T and his brother. Judy could not go home without getting them something. So we saw a vendor selling Whoopie-Pies. That is their favorite!

These pies were HUGE!

We ended up only getting one because they were so big. The boys split it amongst themselves and there is still almost half of it left sitting on the counter.

T spent the weekend hunting with his brother at his parents house so I pretty much was on my own for the daytime. Sunday I took an emergency call with the rescue squad in the morning. I was going to stop and get some Subway on the way to my in-laws, but I remembered I left my wallet in Judy's car the day before - bummer. After going through the Sunday paper (coupons, fliers, & the actual paper) Judy and I took a 4.5 mile walk. It was such a nice day out, rare to have a nice weekend this late in November. The only rough part of the walk was when the dogs spotted the chickens near the road and in the road. That was a treat trying to keep them from pulling and going after the chickens.

When I first started walking with her years ago I would complain and not want to go as far, but today I did not even notice we were at the turn around point. I cannot believe how far I have come in these last few months. I was happy I got 4.5 miles in today it made my number for the week even higher, which was good. So for the third week of my challenge I walked 15.1 miles.

Stay tuned for another post about a new challenge I am giving myself....

He Has His Moments

Today was a good day, for the most part. I woke up this morning and got my butt on the treadmill. I only had time to walk 2.2 miles at 3.6 mph 6.5% incline. I felt good after, I always do it seems. The worst part is getting out of a nice warm bed to do it.

I had a follow up doctors appointment this morning for my blood pressure. It was 110/70 at the office :) Wahoo it was low! That is good, I need to continue my weight loss journey and it will stay that way. I am glad that it was just a matter of losing the weight to bring it down. I did not want it to me something I had to live with forever. I only lost 6 lbs since my last visit 6 weeks ago. I need to kick myself into gear. I want to lose more! I have to go back in 3 months for a weight loss follow up and to make sure that my blood pressure stays low while I am on the new birth control pill too.

When I came home from my appointment I found T home from work. They sent him home because he looked sick. He was not complaining. Here is what I found.

Notice the tail and the foot sticking out the bottom
Apparently T wanted to cuddle with the Kitten. He keeps telling Scribbles that one day she will be a cat and then she will not be cute anymore and he will not like her. He is too funny.

Well hopefully I will go home at 4 tomorrow morning and get a quick nap in. There is a craft fair tomorrow at a college an hour away and I really want to go. We are meeting at my house at 9:30... EEK! That is a 4 hour nap. I also plan on getting up to walk before I get ready to go. I am ambitious.

Want to share anything your husband/boyfriend does that makes you go Awww or that makes you laugh?

Feeling Pretty Crafty :)

Good Evening!
I did not sleep well last night because our EMS pagers kept going off. I did sleep until 9 which was nice :) I am working 4-12 tonight so I could sleep in and still get my walk in. I was a little lazy when I first woke up and then I got some energy and was on the treadmill for an hour 3.6 mph at 6.5% incline - I went 3.6 miles.

Miss April's comment on my Oreo post got me thinking. She is right losing 5lbs will FEEL better than the taste of those Oreos. From now on when I have a craving I will think if the feeling of losing the weight will be less or more than the satisfaction from the cookies/craving. Great way to look at things.

I saw a blog a few weeks ago with crafts in it and I wanted to try some. I decided to do the Santa, the Reindeer, and a Snowman. I have been wanting to be more crafty. I figure if I do these projects I will get better and actually enjoy doing them. Don't get me wrong I enjoy doing crafts, but I always worry they will not come out like the picture. So here is a little blog of events in the last two weeks with my crafts...

I decided to to 6 Reindeer, 3 Santas, & 3 Snowmen. I figured if I liked them I would give them away as gifts. I found the wood for it in my Father-in-Law's barn and it was all scrap wood. He and T helped me with most of the project because they did not want me using the tools. Here are some pictures of the process...

Snowmen waiting to get sanded

T helping cut out the Santa Head, Reindeer Head, & Antlers

I traced the pattern onto a piece of wood, to T could bring it to the Scroll Saw
Box full of goodies I brought home that day

Beginning of the painting

Reindeer Pieces ( I used tacs and push pins to keep the pieces off the sheet I put down, so they would not stick)

Before Scribbles stepped in the paint... She was very fascinated with the painting

Almost done....

Santa heads

With the beards

Almost done....

Done... well sort of. I have to but bows on the reindeer still. I may even give them rosy cheeks. I did one in the back row with the cheeks and he did not turn out that bad.

Every time I get the camera out Scribbles has to try to get in the shot...

Santa, A Reindeer, & The Snowman

I am going to add a crocheted scarf to the snowmen to break up all the white

The cute Reindeer - T's favorite

Santa Claus :)

If I give these for a gift I may give Santa with a Reindeer or two.
I like them... They are not exactly like the picture in the blog, but I think they came out nice. I modified some of her directions. I did not use MDF I used wood that was the correct size for the Snawman's hat and such.

Well I hope you like them :)
